Certain types of investments are generally disputed, such as investments in alcohol, tobacco or weapons manufacturing. These areas have traditionally been the focus of so-called ethical investments but, in recent years, also other types of investments have come into focus, such as extraction of fossil fuels in various forms.
The Council on Ethics’ basic position on debated products and services is first and foremost, whether the business is legal in Sweden or not. If it is a legal operation, it is also reasonable that the AP Funds can invest in it. Several disputed products have in recent years been addressed by various international conventions, such as cluster weapons and tobacco.
